Frequently Asked
Questions
Q:
What is Fixed Wireless Broadband?
A: Fixed wireless broadband is a method of delivering
high speed data utilizing wireless connections. There
is no need for any phone or cable connection. All
traffic is transported with wireless technology
utilizing high capacity transceivers and antennas.
Q:
How internet service is provided?
A: Aeronet wireless installs a Customer Premise
Equipment (CPE) at the customer facilities. This
equipment consist of an antenna (12”x12”) and a data
transceiver.
Q:
How fast is the Aeronet connection?
A: DSL and Cable connections are a residential type
technologies that do not provide a fixed bandwidth. The
speed of the connection is very dependant on the amount
of users on the system. Our service provides dedicated
connections to our customers that can be compared to
traditional wireline services like a T-1, which
provides a consistent 1.5 Mbps (megabit per second)
connection. The T1 is the choice for enterprises
because its performance is not dependent on the number
of users on the network. Aeronet guarantees through-put,
low latency, and minimal packet loss. If more bandwidth is needed,
it can be adjusted on the fly up to 10 mbps which is the
same as 6 T-1’s. We can provide up to 45mbps
(DS-3) connections utilizing dedicated point to point links.
Q:
Where are is the service available?
A: Our current network provides service in the San Juan
metro Area, Caguas, Gurabo and Las Piedras. We are
currently expanding our coverage to Canovanas – Fajardo
corridor and to Humacao, Ponce and Mayaguez.
Q:
How much time it takes to have service?
A: We can provide you with service in an average of 5
business days. If faster service is required, please
contact us for further details
on our Express and Next Day Setup program.
Q:
Does rain or other weather conditions affect service?
A: No, our service operates on a frequency not affected
by any type of weather.
Q: As
my business grows and our broadband needs increase, can
I change my connection speed?
A: Yes. If you need to upgrade your connection, simply
gives us a call.
Q:
DSL is not available in our location. Will that prevent
our company from getting Aeronet service?
A: No. Our Systems does not utilize any type of phone
equipment, it’s completely independent.
Q:
How many computers can I connect to the Commercial
Service?
A: With our commercial service, there’s no limit on how
many computers you can connect to the system.
Q: Is
wireless the same as satellite?
A: No, although the installation looks similar and
employs a small antenna on the roof, Fixed Wireless is
terrestrial rather than extraterrestrial. Because Fixed
Wireless receives its signal from an access node only a
few miles away, it is much faster than satellite which
has to travel almost 22,000 miles for its signal.
